Middlesex sign Harry Duke from Yorkshire until 2028

Middlesex have signed wicketkeeper Harry Duke from Yorkshire on a deal until the end of 2028.
The county confirmed the move on 25 September after Duke spent two spells on loan during the 2026 season, according to BBC Sport. It turns a stopgap into a stay.
Duke first joined in May as injury replacement for Joe Cracknell. He then returned later in the season for the remainder of the campaign. Yorkshire had announced on 1 September that he would rejoin Middlesex on loan for the rest of the 2026 season as cover for the injured Cracknell, according to Yorkshire CCC.
A wicketkeeper is the gloved fielder who crouches behind the stumps. He takes the balls the batter misses and leads the chatter in the field. Duke showed he can change games with the bat too.
In the County Championship, the four-day competition where teams play two innings each, he made an immediate impact. He struck a career-best 100 not out against Durham, meaning he was still batting when the innings closed. He backed it up. His next game brought 94 against Gloucestershire.
He also delivered in white-ball cricket. The One-Day Cup is the 50-over tournament, 300 balls per side, where scoring moves faster and risks come quicker. Middlesex lifted the trophy after beating Leicestershire in the final at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. Duke made 55 in that final.
What makes this stand out is how complete the audition was. Red-ball runs. White-ball runs. Safe gloves. A winner's medal to finish. Few loan players tick every box in one summer.
For fans, this means continuity. Middlesex keep a player who already knows the bowlers, the coaches and the dressing room. There will be no bedding-in period next spring. For Duke, two uncertain months have become two certain years.
