Robert Pattinson does not see his Batman sharing the screen with Superman any time soon.

He said it would be tough for Matt Reeves’ version of Bruce Wayne to exist in James Gunn’s DCU alongside other superheroes, in comments reported by The Hollywood Reporter on Sept. 27, 2026.

Pattinson plays Bruce Wayne, the billionaire who fights crime as Batman. Gunn’s DCU is the shared story world where DC heroes cross into each other’s films. Pattinson pointed to fit. He said the specific tone and style of Reeves’ Batman gets inside you and affects your mood.

That mood is the point. It leaves little room for team-ups.

Reeves’ The Batman, with Pattinson in the lead, was released in 2022. The follow-up, The Batman Part II, is now in production. It is scheduled to reach theatres on Feb. 18, 2028, and Pattinson called it ambitious. He described it as a real left turn from the first film that still keeps elements of its feel.

The comments match how the slate is organised. Reeves’ films sit apart from the DCU, the linked run of films and series overseen by Gunn and producer Peter Safran at DC Studios. Gunn and Safran set out ten projects built around a partial reboot, with two Batmen operating in different corners and a mix of new and returning actors, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

In that plan, Pattinson continues in Reeves’ crime saga. The DCU gets its own Batman in The Brave and the Bold, described by Gunn as the introduction of his Batman and Bruce Wayne alongside Damian Wayne, the son who becomes Robin, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Gunn later poured cold water on the idea of Pattinson taking that second role as well, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The DCU’s Superman is played by David Corenswet.

For fans, this means two tracks are staying separate for now. One is a Gotham built for mood and detective work. The other is built to connect heroes across films.
