Robert Pattinson says production on The Batman Part II has paused while director Matt Reeves deals with a family matter, Variety reported.

Pattinson spoke to the Official Pop Drop at the London Film Festival's U.K. premiere of his film Primetime. Asked about the DC sequel, he said: "We're pausing for a little bit and then we're going to figure it all out."

Filming has stopped for now. Warner Bros. and DC Studios, the organisation that oversees its comic-book films for the cinema, halted work so Reeves can focus on family. A representative said Reeves has the full support of DC Studios during the pause.

News that Reeves had stepped back first broke on Oct. 5. Pattinson's comments, published on Oct. 13, are the first public remarks from the film's star since the break became known.

The pause adds to a long wait for the sequel. The Batman Part II is currently dated for release on Feb. 18, 2028. It was first slated for Oct. 2, 2026, then moved to Oct. 1, 2027, before shifting again to February 2028.

The cast is large and already announced. Pattinson returns in the lead role, with Colin Farrell back as the Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon. New names joining the sequel include Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance and Brian Tyree Henry.

The first film, The Batman, starred Pattinson and was directed by Reeves. It was released on March 4, 2022.

For fans, this means patience. No new date has been announced, and no details have been given about when cameras will roll again.
