Avengers: Endgame Encore topped the mainland China box office for the Sept. 25-27 weekend.

It earned RMB83.8 million ($12.5 million) across the three days, according to data from Artisan Gateway reported by Variety. That was enough to lead a chart filled with long-running local titles.

Its cumulative total in China now stands at $647.8 million. The original Avengers: Endgame had earned over $500 million in China and became the most successful foreign film ever there, according to Variety. That total keeps climbing.

Once Upon a Time in the Middle East took second place in mainland China with $7.6 million in its seventh weekend. It has earned $341.2 million since opening on Aug. 11. All Wishes Come True! placed third with $4.6 million in its eleventh weekend, taking its total to $296 million since its July 18 launch, according to the same Artisan Gateway data.

The Old Fox opened in fourth place with $3.6 million. V was fifth with $2.8 million in its sixth weekend, lifting its China cumulative to $96 million. The whole mainland China market earned $39.9 million for the Sept. 25-27 weekend. Takings for 2026 to date stand at $4.34 billion, down 29.4% from the same point in 2025.

The re-release also drew crowds elsewhere. In North America, the United States and Canada, it earned $26 million, according to Variety. It took $11.2 million on Friday alone from 3,060 North American theatres. Outside North America it earned $60 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In China, the run started fast. It earned $7 million on opening day from 75,000 screenings, according to Koimoi. That was the sixth-biggest opening day for any comic-book movie in China since COVID. The late-September frame led by the film was the second-best late September weekend ever for the box-office marketplace, according to Deadline.

What makes this stand out is the mix on the chart. A returning Marvel favourite with familiar heroes sits at No. 1. Four local titles with weeks of theatre play fill the slots right behind it.
