God of War Laufey Sets February 2027 Launch and Pre-Order Details
Kratos is sitting this one out. God of War Laufey will star Faye, also known as Laufey the Just, when it arrives with a release date of February 16, 2027.
Sony has set pre-orders to open on September 29 at 10am local time, according to details reported by Video Games Chronicle. The game will be sold as a Standard Edition and as a Digital Deluxe Edition, a higher-priced download bundle with extra in-game items and digital extras.
Laufey is the first mainline God of War title to star a protagonist other than Kratos. It centres on Faye, described as Kratos's Norse wife and mother of Atreus. That shift puts a long-running supporting figure in the lead role.
The Digital Deluxe Edition packs in several customisation items for weapons and armour. It includes the Dark Alchemy Armour Set, the Dark Alchemy Blade, Dark Alchemy Bow Scales and the Dark Alchemy Catalyst. The bundle also adds an in-game resource pack, a digital mini artbook and the official digital soundtrack.
Players who pre-order either edition before release will receive extra gear at launch. The pre-order bonus, items granted for buying before launch, includes the Last Wish Armour Set, the Phranque Golden Leaves Appearance and an in-game resource pack.
The game is coming to PlayStation 5 and is already available for wishlisting on the PlayStation Store, a way to save the page to receive launch alerts, as outlined by PlayStation Blog. It is published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is a single-player game, made for one player, described as a story-driven action-adventure game with brutal combat.
Players who try the demo will also carry something forward. They will receive the “Kubi Akari” charm in the full game upon launch.
What makes this stand out is the handover. For fans, this means learning the series’ Norse world from Faye’s side, with new gear to collect from day one.
