God of War Laufey pre-orders open September 29 ahead of February launch
Pre-orders for God of War Laufey start on September 29, the next marker ahead of its scheduled release on PlayStation 5 consoles on February 16, 2027.
PlayStation confirmed the pre-order date and the edition line-up on its official blog on September 28. The post sets out when ordering opens and what versions players can choose from.
Orders go live at 10:00am local time on September 29, according to the PlayStation Blog. That structure gives each region the same local start hour. There is no single global unlock time to convert.
Laufey is listed for PlayStation 5 consoles, with February 16, 2027 given as the release date. PlayStation describes the game as a single-player, story-driven action-adventure with brutal combat, as noted on its God of War page. In plain terms, that means one player follows a set story built around exploration and close, hard-hitting fights.
The Standard Edition will be sold in both physical and digital formats, according to GameSpot. Physical means a disc bought in a shop or ordered for delivery. Digital means a download bought online and kept in your account library, with nothing to swap or shelve.
That choice is now familiar to most players. Some keep discs because they can lend, resell or display them. Others prefer downloads because they stay on the console and are ready without changing discs. Both versions cover the same base game.
Pre-ordering simply reserves a copy before release. For a physical copy, a retailer normally holds one for pick-up or posts it for launch. For a digital copy, the purchase is linked to your account and unlocks for download when the game is released.
For fans, this means the wait has clear dates to organise around. First the order window on September 29. Then the longer run to February.
Players planning to buy can check local retailers or the PlayStation Store from 10:00am on September 29. PlayStation said full details of the editions are available through its official announcement.
