Prime Video renews Reacher for Season 6 while Season 5 is still filming
Prime Video has renewed Reacher for a sixth season while the fifth is still in front of the cameras.
The order keeps Alan Ritchson in the title role as Jack Reacher. It was reported by Variety on 28 September. Season 5 was still in production at the time.
That timing matters. It means viewers will get at least two more chapters after the current run. A renewal is a straight commission for another season, with no pilot stage.
The numbers explain the confidence. Season 4 launched on 12 August and drew 66 million viewers globally in its first 28 days, according to Prime Video figures reported by Variety. The eight-episode run closed on 16 September. It now ranks among the top five most-viewed seasons of any Prime Video original series.
Big. And the total is bigger. The series as a whole has reached 200 million viewers worldwide to date, the streamer says.
Reacher originally launched in 2022 as an action-thriller built around Child's drifting ex-military investigator. Season 3 followed in 2025, with eight episodes streaming exclusively on Prime Video. Prime Video had already renewed the show for a fourth and then a fifth season before this latest order.
Each season adapts a different Lee Child book. Season 4 was based on Gone Tomorrow. Season 5 turns to Make Me, the 20th novel in Child's series, and was shooting in Toronto when the Season 6 renewal was announced.
The world is also expanding. Prime Video has released the first season of Neagley, a spinoff, meaning a new series built around an existing character. Maria Sten stars as Frances Neagley, Reacher's former colleague, across eight episodes, according to Amazon. Ritchson appears alongside her as Reacher, as reported by Collider.
Behind the camera, Nick Santora writes the series and serves as showrunner, the writer in charge of day-to-day creative decisions, and executive producer. The show is produced by Paramount Television Studios and Amazon MGM Studios. Peter Friedlander is head of global television for Amazon MGM Studios.
For fans, this means no long pause between endings and answers. With Season 5 already filming and Season 6 confirmed, the crew stays working and the story keeps moving.
