Miley Cyrus is back at No. 1. Her new album Bass Persuades has debuted on top of the Billboard 200 chart dated Oct. 3, 2026, her sixth No. 1 album and her 16th top 10 set on the chart. Billboard

The set earned 61,000 equivalent album units in the United States in the week ending Sept. 24, according to Luminate. That is a close win. Ella Langley’s Dandelion held at No. 2 with nearly 61,000 units.

Of Cyrus’s first-week total, album sales comprised 47,000. Streaming equivalent album units, the measure that converts plays into album sales, comprised 14,000. Track equivalent album units, which converts individual track sales into album sales, comprised a negligible sum.

The sales figure put Bass Persuades at No. 1 on Top Album Sales. Its streaming total equalled 14.22 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs.

The rollout was short. Cyrus announced the album on Sept. 1 after a week of cryptic teases, including a billboard, and released it on Sept. 18. The title track and first single was unveiled on Sept. 3. It debuted at No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated Sept. 19, her 24th top 40 hit.

The album is her 10th studio album and contains 10 tracks. It is also her first album with her new label. Two Hollywood Bowl shows were announced alongside the album.

The No. 1 ends a long gap. Cyrus last topped the Billboard 200 in October 2013 with Bangerz. Her previous studio project, Something Beautiful, debuted and peaked at No. 4 on the chart dated June 14, 2025.

What makes this stand out is the company she joins. Cyrus is the third act in 2026 to wait at least 10 years for a new No. 1 album, following Bruno Mars and A$AP Rocky.

Mars returned to No. 1 on the March 14 chart with The Romantic, 13 years after he was last on top with Unorthodox Jukebox in March 2013. A$AP Rocky debuted at No. 1 on the Jan. 31-dated chart with Don’t Be Dumb, more than 10 years and six months after he was last No. 1 with At.Long.Last.A$AP in June 2015.

The rest of the top three underlines how tight the race was. Riley Green earned his first Billboard 200 top 10 as That’s Just Me debuted at No. 3 with 60,000 equivalent album units, his best week by units. Of that sum, album sales comprised 29,000, streaming equivalent album units comprised 30,000 and track equivalent album units comprised 1,000.

Further down, beabadoobee scored her first Billboard 200 top 10 with her newest project debuting in the top 10. The full Oct. 3-dated chart will be posted on Billboard’s website on Sept. 29.
