Copa del Rave returns to Los Angeles with football, DJs and games

Staff from dance music companies will trade desks for shin pads on Oct. 8, when the sixth Copa del Rave soccer tournament takes place in Los Angeles.
The event is organised as an industry football competition with music running alongside it. It will bring eight staff teams to the pitch, with the day open to the public, according to Billboard.
The eight sides are drawn from people who work across the business. Companies fielding teams include Beatport, Red Light Management, Helix Records, Circa, Stratasonic, Infamous, Too Lost and Bolo’s Vibraza Records.
Music is built into the schedule around the matches. DJ sets and performances will come from Juos, Mia Luna, Ardalan, Life On Planets and Papa Lu, keeping the sidelines loud between games.
The halftime show will have its own focus. It is presented by Baile World and will feature La Goony Chonga and Cquestt, plus special guests yet to be named.
The tournament is presented by adidas and returns to Evolve Soccer Los Angeles. Doors open at 4.30 p.m. at Evolve Los Angeles. The event is for ages 21 and over. Entry is free with RSVP.
There is a new addition this year away from the grass. Copa del Rave will run an e-sports soccer tournament, a video-game football competition, alongside the main fixtures in partnership with the Red Bull Wings Cup. It is the first time the two have teamed up at the event, Billboard reported.
For fans, this means an easy way in. No ticket is required beyond an RSVP, and the mix of workplace teams, club DJs and a gaming contest gives the afternoon a different shape from a standard gig or match.
