ESPN Jeopardy! Renewed for Season 2, Opens Board to Fans

Everyday sports fans can now bid to compete on ESPN Jeopardy! after the show was renewed for a second season, meaning it gets another run of episodes.
Host Joe Buck broke the news during Monday Night Football, during the Philadelphia Eagles versus Chicago Bears game at Soldier Field, according to Deadline.
It settles the show's future. Earlier in September, TV Insider reported the series had not been officially renewed, though producers were hopeful. That order has now come.
Season 1 premiered in July on Disney+ and Hulu, and is also available on the ESPN app. The first run was billed as a tournament-style event, meaning players competed in a bracket until a winner emerged. Celebrities and ESPN talent played for a $500,000 prize for charity.
That line-up included actor Jon Hamm, ESPN anchor Hannah Storm, former NFL player Manti Te'o and actor Adam Pally. Jeremy Schaap won the season, TV Insider reported.
Season 2 changes the line-up. The new contestants will be everyday sports fans, competing for a $300,000 prize.
The show is a spinoff of the long-running quiz Jeopardy!, refocused on sport. Buck, the Emmy Award-winning Monday Night Football broadcaster, hosts.
It is produced by Sony Pictures Television, with Michael Davies as executive producer. It is filmed on the Alex Trebek Stage, Stage 10 at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City.
For fans, this means a clear path from couch to studio. Details on applications have been shared by the producers, with the usual Jeopardy! process involving registration, a profile and an online test.
