Apple TV turned its biggest night at the Emmys into its biggest week on screen.

The streamer won 28 Emmys at the 2026 awards, its highest total ever and the most for any platform that year, and then logged its highest weekly viewership in its seven-year history for the week of Sept. 14, according to Apple figures reported by Deadline. Viewing for that week was up 67% on the same week a year earlier.

Apple linked the record to three drivers: the film Mayday, Season 4 of Ted Lasso, and a post-ceremony lift for Widow's Bay and Pluribus.

Mayday went straight to streaming on Sept. 4, meaning it skipped cinemas and premiered for subscribers. Apple said it became the service's biggest film debut to date across its first 18 days. The film stars Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh.

Outside figures point the same way. Mayday opened at No. 1 in Luminate's U.S. weekly rankings for Sept. 4-10 with 8.7 million views, then placed No. 2 in its second week. Luminate tracks streaming viewing in the United States.

The awards bounce was sharpest for Widow's Bay. The horror comedy won best comedy at the ceremony and took 14 Emmys in total, the most ever for a comedy series in a single season, according to Reuters. Apple said viewing rose 280% week on week for the Sept. 14 week, meaning almost four times the prior week.

Luminate recorded the same jump. Widow's Bay sat outside the Top 50 for Sept. 4-10 and climbed to No. 13 for Sept. 11-17.

Pluribus followed a similar path. Apple said viewing rose 200% in the week after the ceremony, or three times the prior week. The drama won six Emmys, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Rhea Seehorn.

Ted Lasso supplied the steady base. Season four had been slated for summer 2026 as part of a 2026 slate organised around new originals each week, according to Apple. The show ranked No. 7 in Nielsen's weekly U.S. streaming report for the week of Sept. 7 with 734 million minutes viewed. Nielsen counts total time watched.

Apple also said Season 6 of Slow Horses was up 25% on Season 5 across the first seven days of release and remained its No. 1 title in the United Kingdom.

The Emmys context helps explain the timing. The 2026 ceremony was the 78th edition. Apple won a record 20 awards across the first two nights to lead all networks that weekend. HBO Max ranked next among platforms.

What makes this stand out is how fast the trophies converted into viewing. For fans, this means the winners are easier to find right now, with the new film, the returning comedy-drama and the two Emmy winners all pulling in the same week.
