Princess Alexandra, aged 89, withdrew at the last moment from a memorial concert for Katharine, Duchess of Kent on Sunday evening. The concert was held at Sinfonia Smith Square in Westminster, GB News reported.

The Court Circular, the official daily record of engagements carried out by working royals, had listed Princess Alexandra as attending the musical tribute. It then recorded that she had not been able to attend, Royal Central reported. She did not attend.

Her absence prompted public concern about her health. No further detail about her health has been published.

The tribute was organised by Future Talent, a music charity of which the late Duchess was patron. Katharine, Duchess of Kent died in September 2025 at the age of 92. The concert was held in her memory almost a year later.

Her widower, the Duke of Kent, aged 90, did attend. He was joined by his younger brother, Prince Michael of Kent, aged 84, and by members of the wider Kent family. They included the Duke's children, Lady Helen Taylor and Lord Nicholas Windsor, along with several of his grandchildren including Lady Amelia Windsor.

The Duke, Princess Alexandra and Prince Michael are siblings. They are the children of George and Marina, Duke and Duchess of Kent, and are grandchildren of King George V. They were first cousins of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The Duke will celebrate his 91st birthday in October. Princess Alexandra will turn 90 in December.

Princess Alexandra has carried out duties as a working royal, a member of the Royal Family who undertakes official engagements on behalf of the monarch, since the 1950s. She remains patron or president of more than 100 organisations. She was last seen at a public royal event in April, when she joined a family tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.

For watchers of the older generation of the family, the weekend showed how rarely they now appear together. The two brothers were present. Their sister was not.
