Domino Kirke-Badgley has a blunt reply for strangers still messaging her about her husband's acting boundaries: get over it.

The messages are about Penn Badgley, who plays Joe on You. Kirke-Badgley said she continues to receive direct messages blaming her for his 2023 decision to stop filming intimate scenes on camera, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Badgley first revealed the decision on an episode of his Podcrushed podcast in 2023. Before production on Season 4 of You, he told showrunner Sera Gamble — the writer-producer in charge of a series — that he no longer wanted to film sex scenes. He said he was nervous to raise it. He felt relieved by her response.

He described it as a personal boundary. He told Variety that stepping back from such scenes mattered to him in real life, citing fidelity in his relationship. Kirke-Badgley, whom he married in 2017, said on Instagram that the choice was about mental health. She did not ask him.

That denial matters because she has carried much of the blame. Badgley faced backlash in 2023 after he said he wanted to limit intimate scenes in his work, according to People. Kirke-Badgley said people assumed she had told him to stop. She rejected that idea. She called the decision "just relational hygiene."

There is an irony here. Kirke-Badgley had encouraged Badgley to take the part of Joe, even though it required filming various sex scenes. Once he spoke up, Season 4 changed. It had fewer sex scenes, all performed fully clothed. Badgley later told GQ magazine that his earlier comments had been "blown out of proportion."

For fans, this means the shift on screen came from the actor, not the writers. It was a request about his own behaviour at work. And three years on, his wife says the argument has followed her into her inbox.

She is not debating it. Get over it.
