Ted the talking bear is back in cartoon form. Peacock will launch Ted: The Animated Series on Thursday, December 17. The first drop brings eight episodes, with more to stream in 2027, as reported by Deadline.

The cartoon picks up 12 years after the end of Ted 2. Peacock lists it as a sequel to the Ted and Ted 2 films, in its fall schedule rundown. That puts some distance between the movies and this chapter. The gang is older.

Seth MacFarlane returns to voice Ted. Mark Wahlberg is back as John, Ted's best friend. Amanda Seyfried voices Sam, John's wife. Jessica Barth voices Tami-Lynn, Ted's wife.

Two new voices join the group. Kyle Mooney plays Apollo. Liz Richman plays Ruth.

The series was created by MacFarlane with Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh. Corrigan and Walsh serve as co-showrunners, meaning they lead the writers' room and day-to-day production. Animation comes from Rough Draft Studios, Inc.

It is produced by UGT, Fuzzy Door and MRC. UGT is a division of Universal Studio Group. NBCUniversal had already flagged the title among its additional programmes at the 2026 Upfront, the annual event where US networks present new schedules to advertisers.

For viewers catching up, the earlier Ted story is streaming now on Peacock. For fans, this means a familiar crew in a new format, with the first eight episodes arriving together in December and the rest to follow next year.
