A movie star and a tech mogul are headed for divorce court on HBO.

War, a legal drama made by Sky and HBO, opens at 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 on HBO, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The date places the premiere one day after Sept. 30, 2026, the current date.

Sienna Miller stars as Carla, a film star. Dominic West stars as Morgan, a tech mogul. Their divorce drives the plot.

The series was created by George Kay, whose credits include Hijack and Lupin, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Ben Taylor directs. It is set in the elite world of London law. It received a two-season commitment, meaning two runs were ordered upfront.

That order shapes the courtroom battle at the centre. Carla is represented by lawyers Nick and Serena of the firm Taylor & Byrne. Morgan is represented by St. John and Beatrice of Cathcarts. The two firms sit on opposite sides of the same split.

The ensemble around the two leads is large. It includes Archie Renaux, Phoebe Fox, Nina Sosanya, Pip Torrens, James McArdle and Miles Jupp. Nick Mohammed was also cast.

The second run is already taking shape. Marisa Tomei, Kelly Macdonald and David Harewood have joined War for season two, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The announcement gives the show a confirmed future beyond its opening episodes.

Three publications have posted reviews ahead of the launch. The Hollywood Reporter summed up its review, published Sept. 30, with the bottom line ‘Breaking up is fun to do’. The Wall Street Journal published a review on Sept. 29 titled ‘War Review: HBO’s Legal Drama in the Trenches of Divorce’, according to The Wall Street Journal.

TheWrap, in a review published Sept. 25, said Miller and West excel, described the series as slow-moving and unpredictable with glamour and witty, crisp dialogue, and noted there are no action scenes or explosives, according to TheWrap.

For viewers, this means a simple entry point. Two stars. Two legal teams. One divorce case to decide.
