A tech billionaire and a film star meet in divorce court in War, the HBO and Sky legal drama now starting an eight-episode first season.

The series was created by George Kay, whose earlier credits include Hijack and Lupin, according to Variety. Dominic West plays tech billionaire Morgan Henderson. Sienna Miller plays actress Carla Duval.

Carla is an international film star and Morgan's estranged wife. The two are a high-net-worth couple going through a divorce, as described by Variety. The marriage is over. The fight is not.

The story is set in the elite world of London law. The divorce battle exposes the inside dealings of two powerful London firms, as reported by Yahoo. The series is organised around that contest between lawyers as much as between the couple.

Phoebe Fox plays lawyer Serena Byrne. James McArdle plays lawyer Nick Taylor. Serena and Nick are law partners and a married couple who run the firm Taylor & Byrne.

The wider ensemble includes Rose Williams as Flora, Nina Sosanya as Beatrice "Queen Bea" Ubos and Pip Torrens as St. John Smallwood. Archie Renaux plays lawyer Johnny Warren. Aran Murphy plays Gabriel, Carla's 16-year-old son.

Celia Imrie, Nick Mohammed and Honor Swinton Byrne also joined the cast for the first season. Their roles were announced ahead of transmission last year.

The production was built to continue. War received a two-season commitment, meaning two seasons were ordered together, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Marisa Tomei, Kelly Macdonald and David Harewood have been cast for Season 2.

HBO and Sky released a trailer centred on the divorce trial between Miller and West's characters. Warner Bros. Discovery listed War in its "What's New On HBO Max This October" lineup. Both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter published TV reviews of the series on 1 October and 30 September respectively.

For viewers, this means the London case is only the starting point. With a second season already ordered and new cast attached, the legal world around Morgan and Carla is set to expand.
