Anne Hathaway says unscripted foot rub nearly broke her on Verity set

Anne Hathaway nearly broke character on Verity because of a foot rub she never saw coming.
She told The Hollywood Reporter at the New York premiere that Irina Dvorovenko went off script and started rubbing her feet during a scene, leaving her fighting to keep a straight face The Hollywood Reporter. The cameras kept rolling. She stayed in the scene.
Dvorovenko plays Anna, the caretaker to Hathaway's incapacitated author Verity Crawford. Dvorovenko is a retired principal ballerina, and Hathaway spoke about the moment with clear warmth for her co-star. She did not hold back on how hard it was not to laugh.
Verity is based on Colleen Hoover's 2018 novel of the same name. Dakota Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer brought in to finish Verity Crawford's bestselling book series after an accident leaves Verity unable to continue The Hollywood Reporter. Josh Hartnett plays Jeremy Crawford, Verity's husband.
Hartnett had his own story about trying not to crack up. He said the film's sex scenes nearly made him break character. Short takes. Long days. Plenty of room for nerves.
Behind the camera, the film was directed by Michael Showalter. Hathaway also served as a producer on the project, and author Colleen Hoover spent time on set during production The Hollywood Reporter.
What makes this stand out is the humour in how both leads describe losing composure. For fans, this offers a small glimpse of the mood on set, where an improvised touch and an awkward intimate scene tested two experienced actors in very different ways.
