20th Century Studios has bought the horror project Every House Is Haunted from Netflix, with Adam Schindler and Brian Netto attached to direct, Deadline reported on 30 September 2026. The sale moves the project from the streamer to the theatrical studio. It puts the directing duo in charge of the next version.

The film is based on The House on Ashley Avenue, a short story by writer Ian Rogers. The existing script is by Jason Pagan and Andrew Deutschman, whose draft Netflix acquired in 2021. Schindler and Netto will now do their own pass, industry shorthand for a rewrite by incoming directors.

The story centres on an insurance investigator, a specialist who checks whether a claim should be paid. He is brought in to debunk claims that a couple died because their house was haunted. His task is to find a rational answer.

Corin Hardy was previously attached to direct. That version did not go forward. The new deal replaces him with Schindler and Netto.

Sam Raimi and Zainab Azizi are producing for Raimi Productions, Deadline reported. Roy Lee and Andrew Childs are producing for Vertigo Entertainment, the horror-focused production organisation. Ian Rogers and Starlight Media are listed as executive producers, a senior credit that often covers creative support and underlying rights rather than day-to-day production.

Inside 20th Century Studios, senior vice-president of production J.R. Young will oversee the film. He reports to studio president Steve Asbell. The arrangement places the project inside the studio's central production team.

The pair are no strangers to Netflix. They directed Don't Move, the 2024 thriller starring Kelsey Asbille and Finn Wittrock. They are now in post-production on Nightwatching, a survival thriller starring Mila Kunis and Corey Hawkins. Post-production is the editing, sound and effects stage after filming ends.

For fans, the next step is the script. The directors will deliver their revised draft. That version will define the film that goes before the cameras. Schindler and Netto are represented by Gersh and Persistent.
