Jack Reynor Joins Lily James in Amazon Horror 'Seasons'
Jack Reynor will star opposite Lily James in Seasons, a horror thriller from writer-director Drew Hancock at Amazon MGM Studios, Deadline confirmed on 18 August 2026. The Hollywood Reporter was first to break the casting.
Reynor plays the husband and James the wife in a story about a couple who buy their dream ranch, only to discover the land is alive with ancient spirits. Each season, they must submit to increasingly disturbing rituals to keep whatever dwells there at bay. The film was formerly titled My Wife and I Bought a Ranch, a name that tracks closely with its origins: a viral horror short story by Matt and Harrison Query that first appeared on Reddit before being expanded into a full-length novel.
Hancock directs from his own script. It is his follow-up to Companion, the genre feature he made for New Line. The producer roster is dense: Shawn Levy and Dan Levine for 21 Laps, James Wan and Michael Clear for Blumhouse Atomic Monster, Scott Glassgold for 12:01 Films, and Dan Cohen. Jason Blum is also listed among the producers by The Hollywood Reporter. Judson Scott executive produces for Blumhouse Atomic Monster, with Alayna Glasthal overseeing for the company.
Seasons is the third collaboration between 21 Laps and Blumhouse Atomic Monster, following A24's Backrooms. The pairing joins Levy's production shingle — the banner behind Stranger Things — with the horror powerhouse formed by the merger of Blumhouse and Atomic Monster. Glassgold's 12:01 Films, a horror label that was among the first to develop Reddit-sourced stories into film projects, adds another thread connecting the material to its online roots.
Production is scheduled to begin in September, shooting in Ireland.
For Reynor, the role continues a busy stretch across film and streaming. He recently starred in Lee Cronin's The Mummy, produced by Blumhouse Atomic Monster and released by New Line. He appeared in the second season of Prime Video's spy drama Citadel, and starred alongside Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas in John Carney's musical comedy Power Ballad for Lionsgate. Ahead, he joins the second season of Apple's Presumed Innocent opposite Rachel Brosnahan, and appears in a remake of the yakuza film A Colt Is My Passport from Amazon MGM's Orion Pictures, which has already wrapped production. Reynor is represented by WME, Range and Sloane Offer.
What makes Seasons stand out is the supply chain behind it: a story that started as a Reddit post, travelled through a novel, and now lands at a major studio with a proven horror director and a deep bench of genre producers. The pipeline from online fiction to Amazon MGM screens is one that 12:01 Films has been building for years, and Seasons sits squarely in that lane.
