Witcher 3: Remastered patch fixes missing DLSS and dark interiors

CD Projekt Red has fixed the dark interiors and missing DLSS option in The Witcher 3: Remastered.
The new patch is live on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, with a specific repair for the Xbox Play Anywhere PC version. That is the Windows copy tied to an Xbox purchase. The studio announced the update through the official Witcher account on X.
The main PC repair concerns DLSS upscaling, Nvidia's system for lifting frame rates by rendering at a lower resolution and then rebuilding a sharper image. A bug had stopped players on the Xbox Play Anywhere version from switching it on at all. The option is now available to players with Nvidia cards, according to Video Games Chronicle.
Lighting gets a second pass. The patch brightens interiors that appeared too dark after the remaster's visual overhaul. It also adjusts the console versions to bring them into line with the PC release, so performance and presentation stay consistent across platforms.
That overhaul centred on new Image-Based Lighting (IBL), a technique for more natural ambient light and reflections across different environments. The system is detailed in the official patch notes on The Witcher website, published under the title 'See what's new in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered!'.
The remaster builds on a longer upgrade path for the 2015 role-playing game. CD Projekt Red previously released a free next-generation update for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on 14 December 2022, which added wider lighting changes and support for DLSS 3 on compatible hardware.
More work is on the way. CD Projekt Red said it is preparing a separate hotfix for the PC version to address save-game issues. No release date for that fix was given.
For fans, this means a smoother return to the Northern Realms. The swordplay is unchanged. The quests are untouched. But the cellars, caves and tavern back rooms should now read as the artists intended, and PC players who were locked out of upscaling can tune performance again.
