Witcher 3 Remastered gets patch 5.01, with Switch 2 catch-up in the works

CD Projekt Red has put patch 5.01 live for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
The update gives console players three new graphics switches and fixes two strange gameplay bugs. It also includes optimisations aimed at smoother performance on consoles, according to Eurogamer.
On consoles, players can now turn Bloom, Light Shafts and Depth of Field on or off in the graphics settings. Bloom softens bright light, Light Shafts adds visible rays from sources such as the sun, and Depth of Field blurs the background to draw focus to the foreground. The toggles are listed in the official patch notes.
Two fixes address movement. One stops Geralt's Stamina draining completely when the player sprints and dodges at the same time. The other stops player-controlled boats from moving on their own and ignoring collisions with terrain. No more ghost ships.
The Remastered version was released on 29 September on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox. It was offered as a free upgrade to people who already owned The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. On PC, it is available via Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store and Battle.net, according to CD Projekt Red.
For fans, this means more control over how the game looks without digging through hidden menus. Turn the three effects off for a cleaner image. Leave them on for a softer, more cinematic picture.
CD Projekt Red said it is also working on an update for the Nintendo Switch 2 version. The work is intended to improve image clarity and sharpness and to bring closer parity between all versions. The official patch documentation already covers PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
The studio publishes full release notes on its official Witcher website. That includes the notes for Patch 5.01, published on 8 October, and an earlier Hotfix 5.00c for PC on the remaster.
