Woody Allen will start shooting his new feature in Madrid on Oct. 5, with WestEnd Films newly aboard to handle world sales, according to Variety.

The London-based company will sell the film around the world. That means licensing cinema and other distribution rights to buyers territory by territory. It plans to introduce the project to international buyers at the upcoming American Film Market, the annual buying event where distributors pick up films for release.

Allen has written and directed the untitled project, which is described as a contemporary comedy to be shot in English, according to Variety. The cast is Marton Csokas, Jemima Kirke, Jakob Oftebro, Peter Vives and Alexi Wasser. Vives is a Catalan actor, according to Ara.

Principal photography will take place in the city and region of Madrid. Much of the shoot will use locations in Madrid's city centre, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The production partners are Madrid-based Wanda Vision, Gravier Productions and 3SIX9 Studios.

It is Allen's third production shot in Spain, after Vicky Cristina Barcelona in 2008 and Rifkin's Festival in 2020. The new film is reported to be his 51st feature, according to Showbiz 411.

The Madrid project has received public funding. It can aim to raise a further 4 million euros in Spain through tax credits and grants, including $2.3 million in tax credits, according to Variety.

For buyers, this means an English-language comedy from a familiar director with a set start date and a sales agent already in place. Cameras roll next week.
