R.L. Stine's Afraid of Clowns Heads to Tubi in 2027

R.L. Stine is sending killer clowns to streaming. His new original horror film, Afraid of Clowns, will premiere on Tubi in 2027, as exclusively revealed by Variety on 1 October. Variety

The project comes from the author behind Goosebumps. It is written as a fresh story for the screen, not an adaptation of an existing book.

The ensemble brings together emerging actors and a reality television winner. Frankie Honey, Ava Ferrer and Azriel Dalman lead the cast alongside Joe Moore and Jimbo, according to the announcement. Variety

Jimbo arrives with a built-in following. The performer is the Season 8 champion of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, the drag competition series.

Afraid of Clowns keeps a partnership in place. It is the third collaboration between Tubi, the streaming service, and Stine after two Pumpkinhead films.

The first of those, R.L. Stine's Pumpkinhead, was released on Tubi in October 2025. Its follow-up, Pumpkinhead 2, debuts on Tubi on 9 Oct, keeping both earlier titles inside the Halloween season. Variety

The creative team is also returning. Jem Garrard serves as writer-director on Afraid of Clowns, after helming and writing both Pumpkinhead films. Front Street Pictures serves as producer.

For fans, this means a longer wait but a familiar setup. Same author. Same director. Same streaming home. The clowns arrive next year.
