Gensler and Ege Carpets turn the American landscape into flooring

Gensler has teamed with Danish manufacturer Ege Carpets to launch Our Planet, a landscape-inspired collection of carpets and rugs for commercial interiors.
The collection was featured in the Dezeen Showroom section on 1 October 2026, according to Dezeen. Gensler, described by Ege Carpets as a global architecture and design firm, acted as product design consultants on the project. Emma Chang is design director at Gensler.
Our Planet traces an abstract journey across the American landscape. It starts with west coast mountain ranges and moves east towards waterways and cultivated terrain. The patterns stay abstract. Think shifts in line, texture and tone rather than a literal map.
The range is built for shared spaces. It comes in three formats: wall-to-wall carpet, which is fitted carpet cut to cover a whole floor, planks, which are long rectangular carpet tiles, and rugs. All three are intended for commercial environments such as offices, hotels and public buildings.
The carpets are made in Denmark from wool and recycled polyamide, a hard-wearing synthetic fibre. Buyers can choose between backing systems, the base layers that affect grip, comfort and sound absorption. Ege Carpets says the designs translate natural systems into woven flooring that brings “rhythm, depth and movement into the built environment”, according to its product pages.
There is plenty of choice within the system. Ege Carpets lists the collection under its HIGHLINE concept and offers 10 cut- or loop-pile qualities for wall-to-wall carpet, a reference to surface textures made from cut or uncut yarn, and seven qualities for carpet tiles and planks. Tiles and planks come in three sizes: 48 x 48 cm, 96 x 96 cm and 24 x 96 cm, according to Ege Carpets.
What makes this stand out for non-designers is how it is meant to be used. One listed example is Granite Vein, a commercial rug design in Greige, a grey-beige tone, with product code RF55953669. Mix the sizes, textures and tones and a large floor can read like changing ground underfoot. Small rooms can take a single rug from the same family.
No prices were published with the Showroom feature. The practical details, fibre mix, formats and size options, are where the back-label story sits: who made it, what it is made from and how it can be laid.
