Owen Wilson is heading into the crowd in Rolling Loud: The Movie, which opens in theatres on Friday, Oct 2.

The comedy is written and directed by Jeremy Garelick, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It runs 1 hour 35 minutes and is rated R, which in the United States means under-17s need an adult with them to buy a ticket.

Wilson plays Hank, a furniture salesman with a shaky plan. He sneaks his 13-year-old son Zion into the Rolling Loud hip-hop festival for a weekend together, as listed by The Hollywood Reporter. Zion is played by Christian Convery.

Work follows them to the gates. Matt Rife plays Terry, Hank's co-worker, and Henry Winkler plays their boss. The cast also includes Christine Ko and Jolene.

The film leans into its setting. Parts were shot at the real Rolling Loud festival, and Live Nation, the concert promoter, is among the production companies, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Travis Scott appears as himself. The line-up also features hip-hop artists Sexyy Red, Ski Mask the Slump God and Ty Dolla $ign.

Behind the camera, the producers are listed as Doug Banker, Stella Bulochnikov and Jeremy Garelick on the Rolling Loud movie page. The release is a straight theatrical play, meaning it opens in cinemas rather than going first to streaming.

For anyone planning a trip, the official movie site offers a trailer, screening information and ticket booking. The wider Rolling Loud site carries a ‘MOVIE’ section and already lists ‘FLORIDA 2027’ and ‘CALIFORNIA 2027’ festival editions.

For fans, this means two things in one package. A family road-trip story set inside a working festival, with real stages and real performers around the fictional father and son.
