The former Greenwich Village apartment once occupied by Jackson Pollock is listed for sale at US$1.99 million.

The home is Unit 4 at 46 Carmine Street in Manhattan in New York. Coldwell Banker puts the asking price at US$1,990,000 for the 10014 postcode address.

Elle Decor names Shane Boyle of Compass, the American brokerage, as the listing agent for the US$1.99 million offer. That report was published on 30 September 2026.

It is small. And high up.

The unit is described as a top-floor, one-bedroom condominium, a flat owned outright inside a shared building. It has one bedroom and one bathroom. An earlier account described the former Pollock apartment as an 800-square-foot penthouse at 46 Carmine, a top-floor flat often with roof space. Artnet

The building has a long history. It is a townhouse, a tall, narrow house joined to its neighbours. The New York Post described it in those terms when the apartment was last offered.

Property records cited in local listings date the building at 46 Carmine Street to 1827. Another local history notes the building was once owned by Aaron Burr, the former US vice-president.

This is not the first outing for the address. In September 2014, the former Pollock apartment was put up for sale for US$1.25 million. Luis Ortiz was the listing broker for that offer.

What makes this stand out for fans is the contrast in scale. Pollock is known for very large canvases. Here the link is an 800-square-foot, one-bedroom flat in Greenwich Village, the low-rise neighbourhood in downtown Manhattan long associated with artists and writers.

The current US$1.99 million asking price is almost US$740,000 above the 2014 figure. The layout remains compact. One bed. One bath. Village address.
