Jackson Pollock's old West Village loft is for sale for US$1.99 million.

The one-bedroom apartment sits at 46 Carmine Street in New York's West Village neighbourhood. It is Unit 4, on the top floor of the building, according to listing records ARTnews.

It is small. The history is large.

The loft, an open-plan apartment with overhead light, measures 800 square feet with one bathroom. It has 14-foot ceilings and four skylights, features noted by Mansion Global. Pollock moved into 46 Carmine Street when he was 20 years old, building records state.

The listing brokerage, the firm handling the sale, is Compass in the United States Artnet. The listing agent is Shane Boyle of Compass, and the apartment was scheduled to be listed on 1 October, Elle Decor reported.

The same apartment was previously listed at US$1.25 million. That earlier listing was announced by Luis D. Ortiz, according to background property coverage.

The sale arrives just as Pollock returns to museum walls. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York opened 'Krasner and Pollock: Past Continuous' at The Met Fifth Avenue on 4 October 2026. It runs through 31 January 2027, the museum said in a press release The Met.

The exhibition brings together more than 120 works by Pollock and his wife, artist Lee Krasner. The museum describes it as the first exhibition to trace the full arc of both careers together. It is also the first major New York presentation devoted to either artist in more than 20 years.

What makes this stand out for fans is the scale. An 800-square-foot flat with tall ceilings and skylights offers a direct link to Pollock's early years in Greenwich Village, days before the large-scale paintings. For buyers, that means living space plus a documented address in American art history.
