Lionsgate greenlights Portrait of God with Chase Infiniti

Lionsgate has bought and greenlit Portrait of God, a horror film that will star Chase Infiniti and pair producers Sam Raimi and Jordan Peele for the first time, Deadline reported.
The project is based on a viral short of the same name by filmmaker Dylan Clark. Clark will direct the feature from a script he co-wrote with Joe Russo, and the studio has approved it to move into production.
The film reaches Lionsgate after a change of home. Universal picked up Clark’s script in a competitive situation in December 2025, then later put it in turnaround, trade language for when a studio drops a project and lets another company take it over. Lionsgate then acquired it.
That handover brings two well-known horror names together. Raimi and Rob Tapert will produce through Ghost House, while Peele and Win Rosenfeld will produce through Monkeypaw Productions, Deadline reported. Joe Russo also produces. Chris Rosati is an executive producer for Monkeypaw through his first-look deal at NAT20 Films, an arrangement that gives a company early access to his projects.
Raimi was already involved when the film was at Universal, and Peele was also attached to produce at that stage. Scott O’Brien will oversee the film for Lionsgate, with Romel Adam and Jose Cañas overseeing for Ghost House.
For Clark, it continues a fast rise from online short to studio work. His original Portrait of God short debuted on YouTube in August 2022 and has since passed 10 million views. Lionsgate had already set Clark to make his studio directing debut with a reimagining of the 1999 horror film The Blair Witch Project.
Infiniti arrives with awards attention. She earned nominations at the Actor Awards, Golden Globes and BAFTA Awards for her role opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in One Battle After Another, Deadline reported.
The deal also tightens Lionsgate’s link with Raimi. He is set to direct an adaptation of the 1978 horror film Magic for the studio as his next project.
What makes this stand out is the combination. A short with a large online audience, a new director working with established producers, and a star coming off a high-profile film. Production is now the next step.
