Robert Schwartzman has finished filming Portrait, a supernatural horror thriller, and its sales team is already preparing to show it to buyers. Deadline reported the news on 5 November 2026.

Finn Wittrock plays Mark, and Supriya Ganesh plays Leah, his pregnant wife. The couple leave the city for a small-town farmhouse. There they find an antique portrait of a mysterious pioneer woman, and the discovery sets off supernatural visions and violence.

Whitmer Thomas, Este Haim and Andrew Divoff also star. Zac Stanford wrote the screenplay from a story by Schwartzman and Stanford. Schwartzman produced the film with Dani Koenigsberg and T. Justin Ross for Beachwood Park Films. Greg Lauritano, along with Maggie Kaufman Coffey and Marissa Paiva of The Table Productions, are executive producers. An executive producer is usually a financier or overseer rather than someone on set every day.

On the business side, Upgrade has boarded international sales for the film. International sales means selling a finished movie to distributors in countries outside the United States. Domestic sales group After Hours will handle North American sales, covering the United States and Canada, through Christine D'Souza, Julia Nelson and Peter Van Steemburg.

Upgrade and After Hours will introduce Portrait to buyers at the upcoming American Film Market. The market is a trade event where distributors, the companies that release films to cinemas and streaming services, look at new titles and make deals. Many films are sold this way long before audiences see them.

Schwartzman has directed The Good Half, Hung Up On A Dream, The Unicorn, Dreamland and The Argument. He was also a producer on The Last Showgirl. Portrait marks another project in which he works on both sides of the camera, writing the story and producing the film as well as directing.
