The Watcher Season 2 Brings Back Watts and Cannavale

The Brannocks are back. Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale will return for Season 2 of Netflix’s The Watcher, which is set to begin production in New York this autumn, Variety reported on 2 October 2026.
Watts again plays Nora Brannock and Cannavale again plays Dean Brannock, the couple at the centre of the story. Their roles were listed by Netflix Tudum. Margo Martindale and Isabel Gravitt will also return and reprise their roles, according to Variety.
The series was created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan. Brennan serves as showrunner, the person who leads the writers’ room and oversees day-to-day production.
Season 1 aired in October 2022. It was originally conceived as a limited series, meaning a story designed to run for one season only. Netflix then renewed it for Season 2 in November 2022.
The renewal followed strong early viewing. The series tallied 125 million hours viewed in its first week on Netflix and 148 million hours viewed in its second week. It spent five weeks on Netflix’s global top 10 chart for English-language television.
The wait has been long. Nearly two years after that renewal, Watts told Entertainment Weekly in September 2024 that she was still waiting for an update on the second season.
For viewers, this means the pause is over. Four familiar faces are confirmed, a filming location and window are set, and the crew heads back to work in New York.
