Jennifer Lawrence to Star in One Month Mark with Gene Stupnitsky in Talks to Direct

Jennifer Lawrence is attached to star in One Month Mark, with Gene Stupnitsky in final negotiations to direct, according to Deadline. The report published on 2 October 2026 reunites the actor and director after their R-rated comedy No Hard Feelings.
The project is set up as an Apple Original Films and Chernin Entertainment film, from a script by Sophie Fleur de Bruijn, the same report said. It is described as a contemporary romantic comedy. The logline is short and neat: she has never made it past a month in a relationship, he has never gone longer than a month without one.
Lawrence will also produce through her Excellent Cadaver banner, with Justine Ciarrocchi producing for the company, according to Deadline. Peter Chernin and David Ready are attached as producers, with Brady Fujikawa as executive producer. That structure puts the star, her company and the Chernin team together behind the camera.
The reunion was driven by Lawrence, who pushed for Stupnitsky to return as director, the report said. The two previously worked together on No Hard Feelings, which Stupnitsky directed from a script he wrote. Sony released that film, a comedy vehicle built around Lawrence, on 16 June 2023, according to Deadline.
Stupnitsky arrived in features with the Universal comedy Good Boys, which bowed in 2019, according to Deadline. He also co-created the comedy series Jury Duty and co-wrote Bad Teacher. The credits span writing, directing and television creation, all in comedy.
What makes this stand out is the simplicity of the setup. Two opposite dating habits. One collision. For fans, this means another Lawrence-led comedy with a director she has worked with before, this time for Apple rather than a cinema-first studio release.
