Anne Hathaway Credits Rihanna for Changing Her Maternity Style

Anne Hathaway says she has Rihanna to thank for her pregnancy wardrobe.
The actor credited the singer as the inspiration for her maternity style during an appearance on CBS Mornings on Friday, 2 October, where she was promoting her film Verity, Billboard reported. Host Gayle King praised Hathaway for her adventurous outfits and for showing her baby bump on the press run.
Asked about the looks, Hathaway replied: “I think we have Rihanna to thank.” She added of the singer, “She changed the game.” The exchange was also noted by People.
Hathaway said watching Rihanna dress through pregnancy made her realise she needed to use her imagination and have more fun. That meant leaning into bold cuts and visible bump dressing rather than covering up. She spoke warmly. King agreed.
Hathaway is expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman. She is already mother to two sons, aged 10 and 6.
It is her third public pregnancy. Hathaway first shared news of a pregnancy in 2016, and her changing maternity wardrobe has since been followed closely, including in a People retrospective titled ‘Anne Hathaway’s Best Maternity Fashion Moments’, People.
What makes this stand out is how direct the credit was. Hathaway did not frame it as following a trend. She framed it as permission to play.
In the same press round, Hathaway told People she has “chilled out” about fame after a blockbuster year, People.
