Christopher Abbott Hasn't Read X-Men Script Yet

Christopher Abbott has landed the role of Professor X but has no script pages to study yet.
"I haven't read anything yet. Nothing," Abbott told Entertainment Tonight, in comments reported by Deadline. He added that he is excited to work with director Jake Schreier and cannot wait to start.
The interview is Abbott's first public update since his casting was announced in August, according to Deadline. He takes over Charles Xavier, the wheelchair-using telepath who leads the X-Men, a team of mutant heroes. Sir Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy played the part in earlier films.
Abbott admitted the announcement felt overwhelming. The reveal was "a bit of a nightmare" because "a lot of people didn't know who I was," he said in an interview reported by Variety.
Marvel Studios unveiled its new X-Men ensemble at D23 2026, Disney's fan showcase, according to Marvel. The cast includes Adam Driver as Nathaniel Millbury / Mister Sinister, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Asa Germann as Angel, as listed by Deadline. Schreier was joined onstage by Sink during the presentation, Marvel said.
The film is still listed as untitled. It is directed by Schreier, identified by Marvel as the Thunderbolts filmmaker, and written by Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo. It is scheduled to premiere in theatres on May 5, 2028, according to Deadline.
For fans, this means a long wait with little to go on. The lead actor has the job and the release date is set. The story itself is still under lock.
