OhSnap Wallet 2: A Modular Lever Wallet for MagSafe That Stacks With a Stand

OhSnap has put the Wallet 2 on Kickstarter, a magnetic lever-action card wallet made to stack with the company's Snap Grip Stand. It was described in reporting published Oct. 4, 2026, as a toolless, modular system rather than a sealed sleeve. The Verge

Pull the springy lever and stored cards fan out for selection. Push it back and the stack retracts. The lever is familiar from other card wallets. Here it sits in a MagSafe-compatible form, MagSafe being Apple's magnetic mounting system, built to live on the back of a phone.

Modularity goes further. The Wallet 2 pulls apart by hand to swap 3-card, 5-card, and 7-card cores. Front or back magnetic plates swap for an ID holder, work badge, elastic band, money clip, or ultra-thin aluminum covers. Capacity and outside function are set separately, not fixed at purchase.

Assembly uses a compliant mechanism. Plastic arms in the core act as springs, pushing a lock into notches in the covers. No screws. No tools. The arms flex to release, then hold tension to lock. The issue is tolerance control. Such latches depend on notch shape and creep, the slow loosening of plastic under stress, with repeated disassembly.

Stacking is the other half. A MagStack plate lets other magnets snap to the Wallet 2, allowing stacking with the Snap Grip Stand. That stand uses dual-side MagSafe magnets in a stackable build, with a 350-degree hinge that flips out to hold the phone at several angles. The base Snap Grip is an ultra-thin magnetic grip and stand with MagSafe for a one- or two-finger hold with 360-degree rotation. OhSnap

There are tradeoffs. The 7-card version adds 127 grams to a phone, noticeable weight on any handset. OhSnap calls the Wallet 2 "impossibly thin," but thin does not mean light once cards and magnets are loaded. With ultra-thin aluminum covers on both sides, the magnetic interface is gone, so it no longer sticks to a phone. Minimum bulk or magnetic stacking. Not both.

The 3-card Wallet 2 with double-magnet kit is $61 on Kickstarter or $76 at retail. An ID cover or money clip is $35 extra. OhSnap makes grips, stands, cases, and chargers. Its Snap Grip Wallet holds 1 to 8 cards and expands, blocks RFID, and includes a grip and kickstand. The Wallet 2 sits alongside it as a more mechanical, reconfigurable option.

The broader context here is everyday carry, and in my view the durability question matters most. The bet is users accept added mass and stack height to drop a separate wallet, stand, and grip, which is practical for MagSafe users who already carry a wallet puck. The core swap also fixes an old failure, where wrong capacity meant buying a second wallet. Still, magnets collect debris and plastic springs fatigue with repeated pulling and restacking. If it holds, modularity becomes real reuse. If it loosens, it becomes a set of plates. Durability after months of pocket and desk use will matter more than launch specs.
