WME has signed Sam Esmail and his company Esmail Corp for representation in all areas.

The deal, reported by Deadline, covers Esmail’s work across film, television and other formats. Representation in all areas means one agency handles every part of a client’s career. He continues to be represented by law firm McKuin Frankel.

Esmail is best known as the creator of USA Network’s Mr. Robot. He served as writer, director and executive producer on the hacker drama. It ran for four seasons from 2015 to 2019.

The series won the Golden Globe for Best Television Series, Drama. It also won a Peabody Award and the Writers Guild Award for New Series. Esmail earned Emmy nominations for Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.

He runs Esmail Corp alongside Chad Hamilton. The company develops and produces film and television projects under Esmail’s banner.

Esmail directed the first season of Amazon’s Homecoming. He then wrote and directed Leave the World Behind for Netflix in 2023. That film was based on the novel by Rumaan Alam and starred Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke.

His next film is Panic Carefully for Warner Bros., which he wrote and directed. The cast includes Julia Roberts, Eddie Redmayne, Elizabeth Olsen and Brian Tyree Henry. It is slated for a theatre release on 9 April 2027.

For viewers, this means Esmail’s next chapter has a new agency home. His recent run has moved between cable, streaming and cinema. WME will now steer what comes after Panic Carefully.
