Alice Cooper publishes 445-page memoir 'Devil On My Shoulder'

Alice Cooper has published a new memoir, Devil On My Shoulder, on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
The 445-page book is published by Da Capo and carries the full title Devil On My Shoulder: A Memoir, according to Billboard. Cooper was 78 when it was due out in October 2026.
It is his third book. His first, Me, Alice: The Autobiography of Alice Cooper, arrived in 1976, followed by Alice Cooper, Golf Monster in 2007.
This one was written with Daniel Richler. Cooper said he spent five hours a day with Richler recalling stories. Richler also co-wrote Geddy Lee’s 2023 memoir My Effin’ Life.
The structure is unusual. The book stages conversations between Vince Furnier, the man born under that name, and Alice Cooper, the stage character he created. In the 1960s and early 1970s, Alice Cooper was the name of a rock group before Furnier adopted it as his own.
Cooper warns readers not to take every line at face value. In the preface he calls himself “the most outrageously unreliable interviewee of all time.” He puts a figure on it: 90% of the stories are true.
What makes this stand out is that split voice. For fans, this means the memoir reads as an argument between the person and the persona, rather than a straight timeline.
The book covers his life, career and addictions. It is available in hardback, ebook and audio formats, according to his official website announcement.
In the United States it is issued via Grand Central Publishing, of which Da Capo is an imprint. An earlier announcement from Cooper said the book was out Oct. 6 in the US and Oct. 8 in the UK.
Cooper discussed Devil On My Shoulder: A Memoir on Little Steven’s Underground Garage on SiriusXM around publication, according to a post on his official website.
