Netflix has ordered a pilot for "Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging," a television adaptation of Louise Rennison's young adult novels.

A pilot order means one test episode is made first, with no full series guaranteed. Variety reported the commission on 6 October 2026. The test comes first.

Monica Heisey is writing the pilot, with Jim O'Hanlon attached to direct. Fifth Season and Rise Films are producing the project in the U.K.

Sam Leifer is executive producer on behalf of Rise Films. Jon Jennings serves as producer, and Rachel Sheridan is casting director for the pilot.

The project draws on Rennison's "Confessions of Georgia Nicolson" series. That run opened with "Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging" in 1999, followed by "It's OK, I'm Wearing Really Big Knickers" in 2000.

The books have reached the screen once before. Paramount released "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging" in 2008, based on the first two books in the series. It was written and directed by Gurinder Chadha and starred Georgia Groome and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

For fans, this means a familiar character could return in a new form. If Netflix moves past the pilot to a full series, it would be the second screen adaptation of Rennison's work, according to Yahoo.

Netflix's listing for the 2008 film describes Georgia's plan in simple terms: land a gorgeous boyfriend and organise the best 15th birthday party ever. No casting for the new pilot has been announced. A decision on a series will follow the pilot.
