Slayyyter reveals stage name origin on Seth Meyers debut

Slayyyter made her debut appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers and used it to explain where her stage name came from.
She told Meyers the name traces back to Ron Slater, a character played by Rory Cochrane in Richard Linklater's 1993 film Dazed and Confused, according to Billboard. She said she thought Slater was so cool when she was in high school. She also admitted she had a crush on him.
The show posted the conversation to YouTube on 6 October 2026 under the title 'Seth Interviews Slayyyter: wor$t man in america, Toxic Showgirl Costumes and New Music'. In the interview, Slayyyter talks about how Dazed and Confused inspired her stage name.
Style was part of the appearance too. Slayyyter wore a Myat fall 2026 look for the show, according to WWD. During the interview she discussed her collection of showgirl dresses. That includes the costumes linked to her current run of shows.
What makes this stand out is the direct line from film fan to pop name. No committee. Just a favourite character, kept and respelled.
