Star Moles signs to Dead Oceans with new single Born Again

Star Moles has signed to Dead Oceans and shared a new single, “Born Again.”
The project is led by Philadelphia musician Emily Moales. She confirmed the label deal alongside the new track, Pitchfork reported on 7 October. A label signing means upcoming releases will be issued through that company, which handles manufacturing, distribution and promotion.
“Born Again” reunites Moales with producer Kevin Basko. Basko produced her album Highway to Hell and is a member of Rubber Band Gun. The pairing continues a working relationship from that earlier record.
The new song arrives with a video. It was directed by Lucky Marvel and filmed in South Philly. The video stays local.
Highway to Hell was released in February. Dead Oceans will now give the album its first release on vinyl in December. That vinyl edition puts the record on LP, the large black discs played on a turntable, alongside streaming versions.
The album has already travelled further. It was named in BrooklynVegan’s 50 Favorite Albums of 2026 So Far, a mid-year list published on 3 July. BrooklynVegan
A short run of United States headline shows is organised for January. Pitchfork lists five dates on the east coast and midwest, with venues and support confirmed for the opening night.
The run starts on 22 January in Chicago, Illinois, at Schuba’s, with Sam and Louise Sullivan also on the bill. It continues on 26 January in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at Johnny Brenda’s. Then comes 27 January in Boston, Massachusetts, at Warehouse XI.
The final two nights follow in quick succession. The band plays Brooklyn, New York, at Baby’s All Right on 28 January. The run closes in Washington, D.C., at Songbyrd on 29 January.
For fans, this means new music now, a physical edition to follow, and a chance to see the songs live soon after.
