Joy Behar Misses 84th Birthday Episode of The View After Shoulder Injury

Joy Behar spent her 84th birthday off camera.
The longtime co-host missed the birthday edition of ABC's The View on 7 October 2026 while healing from a dislocated shoulder. The injury had already kept her off the show the prior week, according to Deadline.
Whoopi Goldberg opened the birthday show with an update. She said Behar was still healing and told her to get better fast so she could be celebrated back at the table. She was missed.
Goldberg added a flash of humour. She joked that although Behar shares a birthday with Vladimir Putin, Behar does not have the Russian plague.
The fall happened inside The View's ABC studio building in New York. Behar caught her heel and tripped, dislocating her shoulder.
Viewers first heard the diagnosis from Sunny Hostin. Speaking on the live show the previous Thursday, Hostin said Behar had dislocated her shoulder. Hostin stepped in as moderator that day because both Behar and Goldberg were absent, with Goldberg away filming the Netflix film Women Like Us.
Five hosts carried the birthday episode in Behar's absence. Goldberg was joined by Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro. The show also posted a birthday greeting to Behar on its Instagram page.
Behar is expected back soon. The October report said she should return the week after the birthday episode. Her representative had said earlier that the shoulder was not broken, that it was back in place, and that she was excited to get back to the table as quickly as possible, according to E! News.
It is not her first injury absence. In late 2025 she missed four consecutive episodes after injuring her foot, according to Yahoo. She had broken a toe after dropping an iPad on her foot. When she returned, she showed viewers the injury herself.
For fans, this means one more short wait. The chair is still hers, the cake can wait, and the show's birthday wish is a speedy return.
