Taylor Swift's 'Patient Zero' storms to Streaming Songs No. 1

Taylor Swift has taken her 12th No. 1 on Billboard's Streaming Songs chart, the weekly US streaming ranking, as "Patient Zero" opens at No. 1 on the 10 October-dated chart. Billboard confirmed the result on 7 October.
"Patient Zero" drew 34.5 million chart-eligible streams in the United States in the week ending 1 October, according to Luminate, the data company behind the charts. That is the largest single-week US streaming total since Drake's "Janice STFU" posted 40.7 million and "Ran to Atlanta" added 38.5 million toward the 30 May charts. Streams here mean on-demand audio and video plays that qualify for Billboard's count.
The song arrived on 25 September as one of four bonus tracks added to Swift's 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl. The full set of new songs now fills four of the top five places on Streaming Songs. The parent album has also returned to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, the main US albums chart.
Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" holds No. 2 with 22.4 million streams. Swift takes the next three places. "Cleveland!" is No. 3 with 19.3 million, "Babylon" is No. 4 with 19 million and "Pink Clouding" is No. 5 with 18.4 million.
Swift first led Streaming Songs in November 2014 with "Shake It Off." She and Drake are now the only acts with 10 or more leaders in the chart's 13-year history, with Drake on 22. Her totals keep building. She has 41 top fives, second to Drake's 70, and 73 top 10s, second to his 114.
Older favourites are moving too. "The Fate of Ophelia," which reigned for seven weeks between October and December 2025 and returned for one week on 10 January, is the Greatest Gainer at No. 12 with 10.2 million streams, up 51%. "Opalite" re-enters at No. 22 with 7.7 million, up 53%, while "I Knew It, I Knew You," a one-week leader in June, sits at No. 39 with 6.3 million.
The streaming crown is part of a wider sweep. "Patient Zero" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the US chart that combines streams, sales and radio, giving Swift her 16th Hot 100 leader. Billboard reported that the song also started at No. 16 on Radio Songs and as her record-extending 33rd No. 1 on the Digital chart, which tracks paid downloads.
Globally, the song launched at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts. Billboard reported those starts on 5 October. In Britain, Swift took No. 1 on both the singles and albums charts with "Patient Zero" and The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore.
On 25 September, "Patient Zero" became Spotify's most-streamed song by a female artist in a single day in 2026 so far. Swift also premiered its cinematic music video at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards. For fans, this means one new song is driving plays, sales, airplay and video in the same week.
