AFC Richmond gets new coaches, a new ownership line-up and an open future in the Ted Lasso Season 4 finale.

The 56-minute closer is titled "Being Alive" and was released on 7 October 2026 as Episode 10, according to Forbes. It was co-written by Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt, who co-created the series, Hunt told Deadline.

Roy Kent quits as manager of the Richmond men's team. He leaves to manage Chelsea. The torch has passed.

His exit clears space for a women's-team shake-up. Alice Chilton is promoted to head coach of the women's team, with Ted Lasso and Coach Beard serving as her assistants. Sam Obisanya, played by Toheeb Jimoh, and Nathan Shelley both appear in the episode.

Hunt said the return of most of the original men's players for the finale was planned as a "passing of the torch" moment from the men to the women. Season 4 centred on Ted coaching a women's team after its August launch with weekly episodes.

Off the pitch, control of the club shifts. Rebecca secures 51% ownership. The shares come from the Milk sisters, secured by Hugo, plus the 2% left to her by Mae in her will.

Mae is memorialised in the episode. The farewell includes a song performed by Niamh and Siobhan. The finale closes with a cover of the Ted Lasso theme song performed by Brandi Carlile.

Two personal stories land alongside the football decisions. Ted tells his son Henry about his father's suicide. Rebecca proposes to her boyfriend Matthijs in her office.

For fans, this means a lot of threads tie off while the door stays open. The episode had been listed earlier as "The Departing Lass" before airing as "Being Alive". Hunt also revealed there had been an idea for actor Anthony Head to appear.

What happens next is undecided. A renewal — meaning a formal order for another season — for Season 5 has not been confirmed. Hunt told Deadline he had not heard anything official but was hopeful and optimistic.

The season brought back Sudeikis as star and writer, Hunt as Coach Beard and Juno Temple, and added Tanya Reynolds and Faye Marsay as new cast members. Brett Goldstein, who plays Roy Kent, is also creator, executive producer and star of the Amazon comedy Escorted and works on Apple TV's Shrinking.
