Luke Grimes says he hasn't spoken to Kevin Costner since Yellowstone

Luke Grimes has not spoken to Kevin Costner since they stopped working together on Yellowstone.
Grimes, 42, made the comment in a recent interview with USA Today, published as video on Monday, 5 October. He now stars in Marshals, a spin-off — a new series built around a character from an earlier show — following his Yellowstone role, Variety reported.
On Yellowstone, Costner played ranch owner John Dutton. Grimes played Kayce Dutton, John's youngest son. The series ran for five seasons and ended in December 2024.
Costner did not return for the final six episodes of Season 5B. His character was killed off. Grimes said the pair simply lost touch after that split.
Both men are busy, Grimes said. Life moves on.
Marshals picks up with Kayce after he leaves the Yellowstone Ranch. He joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals. Grimes reprises the role on the CBS series, which is scheduled Sundays at 7 p.m. Central, WSAW reported. Season 1 premiered in March, with Season 2 premiering on a Sunday.
Asked about a Costner appearance in Marshals, Grimes said it would be cool. He doubts it will happen. The USA Today video is described as Grimes reflecting on whether his former co-star could appear in the new series, USA Today.
For fans, this means no reunion is on the table from Grimes. He said he would favour a flashback with Monica Long Dutton over one with John Dutton. Kelsey Asbille played Monica, Kayce's wife, who had died of cancer by the time Marshals premieres.
