Louis Garrel is set to play John Elkann in Marco Bellocchio's film "Falcon," which is now shooting in Toronto, according to Variety. Elkann is the heir to Italy's Agnelli family behind car giant Fiat. Garrel stars opposite Pierfrancesco Favino as auto executive Sergio Marchionne.

Marchionne was hired by the Agnelli family to run Fiat in 2004. He was Italian and Canadian. He died in 2018. He was 66.

The wider cast includes Benedetta Cimatti and Barbara Ronchi. Valeria Bruni Tedeschi has a cameo. No character details for those three roles have been disclosed.

Cameras are rolling in Toronto. That follows a longer build-up. Garrel told Variety in early September that he would work with Bellocchio in October on "Falcon," according to Variety. Production had been scheduled to begin in September 2026, with filming planned across Italy, the United States and Canada, according to Emotion Network.

"Falcon" was written by Bellocchio with Ludovica Rampoldi, Andrea di Stefano and Stefano Rulli, with the collaboration of Oliviero Del Papa. It is being produced by Simone Gattoni for Kavac Film, Mattia Mor for Emotion Network and RAI Cinema, in collaboration with Stla Europe.

Behind the camera, Matteo Cocco is cinematographer, the person in charge of camera and lighting. The film reunites Bellocchio with production designer Andrea Castorina, costume designer Daria Calvelli and editor Francesca Calvelli. Production design covers sets and locations, costume covers clothes, and editing shapes the final cut.

What makes this stand out for a casual viewer is the pairing at its centre. One figure is the heir carrying a famous family name. The other is the manager brought in to steer the car business. That boss-and-heir relationship now has its two lead actors in place while the shoot continues.
