Silent Hill Townfall 1.4.0 eases The Weight, enemies and final puzzle

Silent Hill Townfall just got less punishing.
Version 1.4.0, a downloadable update that revises how the game plays, eases the stealth sections built around The Weight, weakens regular enemies and makes the final puzzle easier to read, according to patch details reported by Video Games Chronicle.
The Weight is the encounter many players feared. It usually cannot be killed and triggers an instant-death animation if it catches the player. That turns those stretches — sections where sneaking past matters more than fighting — into tense trial and error, where one mistake ends the chase.
That pressure drops on the lower settings. On Story Mode and Normal difficulties, its grab attacks now deal heavy damage instead of killing outright. It is still dangerous. It is no longer an instant fail.
Its hunting behaviour is calmer too. The monster will no longer sit in front of the player's objective for long periods, search the same spot over and over without moving on, or track the player too aggressively. The change targets camping, looping and relentless pursuit in one go.
Regular enemies are less sharp as well. They react less to the sound of gunfire, running and slipping into a hiding space, a small spot meant to break line of sight. They are also less likely to land a quick counter-attack straight after taking a melee hit. Players get a fraction more breathing room in every scuffle.
Blocking now carries real weight. Enemies will not start a grapple, a close-range grab struggle, if the player is blocking with a melee weapon. Players also get extra time to react after breaking free from a grapple, which should cut down on chain hits.
The final puzzle gets practical help. Version 1.4.0 adds a collectible manual for the control console, so players can check the instructions while using it. No more memorising steps or flipping back and forth between notes and switches.
The fix follows a promise. Developer Screen Burn had said gameplay balancing for players struggling with The Weight was on the way as soon as possible. The patch delivers that work, with the stealth, combat and puzzle tweaks arriving together.
For players stuck at those choke points, this means fewer sudden deaths and more room to learn the patterns. The horror stays. The friction eases.
