Pia Tjelta Joins The Day of the Jackal Season 2 in First English-Language Role

Norwegian actor Pia Tjelta has joined the cast of The Day of the Jackal Season 2. It is her first English-language role. The casting was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter on 8 October 2026.
No details of her character have been disclosed. Her character is under wraps. Season 2 is set to premiere in spring 2027.
The series is a Sky original, airing in the United States on Peacock. It is produced by Carnival Films and based on Frederick Forsyth's 1971 novel. Eddie Redmayne stars as the titular assassin, a highly paid killer pursued across Europe.
Season 1 drew 3 million viewers in its first week. That made it Sky's biggest-ever original series launch, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Tjelta joins new Season 2 cast members Matt Bomer, Pablo Schreiber and Weruche Opia. Schreiber and Opia are both series regulars, meaning main cast members across the season, as reported by Deadline in February. Returning faces include Úrsula Corberó, Charles Dance and Eleanor Matsuura, according to Esquire UK.
Many viewers will know Tjelta as Rakel Fauke in Netflix's Jo Nesbø's Detective Hole, opposite Tobias Santelmann and Joel Kinnaman. The crime series puts her at the centre of the Norwegian author's long-running Harry Hole story.
She arrives with recent awards form. Tjelta won best actress at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival for Nina Knag's 2025 film Don't Call Me Mama. She then won best actress at the 2026 Amanda Awards, Norway's national film awards, for the same performance.
For fans, this means a familiar thriller with a wider net. The first season set a high bar on arrival. The second adds new hunters, new targets and, now, a Norwegian star speaking English on screen for the first time.
