The Smurfs return for Season 4 with 52 new episodes

The Smurfs will return for a fourth season of 52 new 11-minute episodes.
Peyo Productions has confirmed the CG-animated series is now in production, as reported by Variety. The order keeps the little blue village on screens into 2028. That means steady work for the crew and more stories for young viewers.
The schedule is set in two parts. The first half will be delivered at the end of 2027. The second half will air in 2028.
That timing is deliberate. 2028 is a double birthday year. It marks 100 years since the birth of Peyo, the Belgian artist who created the Smurfs, and 70 years since the Smurfs first appeared.
Season 4 is made with Ellipse Animation in France. Peyo Productions, the production arm of the Peyo Company home to the characters, is leading the series with the French studio.
Four European broadcasters return as co-production partners, meaning they help fund the series and air it in their own territories. They are RTBF in Belgium, Ketnet in Flanders, KiKA in Germany and TF1 in France. Nickelodeon is the global partner. It will premiere Season 4 in the United States before it rolls out in the rest of the world.
There is continuity behind the camera. William Renaud, who has directed the series since 2021, is back to direct. Peter Saisselin and Amy Serafin return as head writers.
The map gets bigger this time. Season 4 brings the Smurfies Village fully into the show, after a first glimpse at the end of Season 3. Blossom, Storm and Willow will appear as recurring characters. Peyo’s production site lists Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Jokey and Storm at the centre of the run, which is made in 3D and aimed at viewers aged 5 to 10.
For fans, this means new corners to explore without losing familiar faces. Expect the usual mix of mishaps, teamwork and cheeky behaviour. Short episodes help too. Eleven minutes fits an after-school slot.
There is more Smurf activity beyond the main series. Peyo Company has tapped studios Blue Spirit and Dreamwall to produce new Smurfs specials, as reported by Animation Magazine, with delivery set for the end of 2026. The move followed the 2025 Smurfs film, a fully animated musical.
In the US, new episodes of the current series air on Nickelodeon on Fridays at 7:30 p.m., according to the official Smurfs site. Season 4 will follow that same path, starting in America first.
