Angie Harmon to Direct Lifetime's The Girl Who Disappeared

Angie Harmon is stepping behind the camera again to direct The Girl Who Disappeared for Lifetime, a true-story drama set for 2027, The Hollywood Reporter reported on 8 October 2026.
The film will air as part of Lifetime's Ripped from the Headlines line, the network's label for movies dramatised from real cases. The title is a working title, meaning a temporary name that can change before broadcast.
Jaime Pressly, Casey Deidrick and Alexa Blair lead the cast. Blair plays Heather Elvis, aged 20. Deidrick plays Sidney. Pressly plays Tammy, Sidney's wife.
The story centres on a young woman whose romance with a married man spirals into obsession, jealousy and betrayal. Lifetime has not yet announced a premiere date beyond the 2027 slot.
For Harmon, it is only her second directing credit. She previously directed the 100th episode of Rizzoli & Isles, the TNT crime drama in which she starred. That series ran for 105 episodes from 2010 to 2016, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Behind the camera, Peter O'Brien wrote the script. James Suttles and Jason Winn are producers. Gaylyn Fraiche, Fernando Szew, Hannah Pillemer, Larry Grimaldi and Julianna Hays are executive producers, the senior figures who oversee the production creatively and financially.
The film is produced by Fox Entertainment Studios, with Fox Entertainment Global handling international distribution, or sales of the film outside the United States, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
What makes this stand out for viewers is the pairing. Harmon is best known as a screen actor. This time she shapes the performances of others.
