Four Mumbai friends tumble into the city’s underworld in “Chaar Yaar,” an eight-episode Hindi-language crime drama arriving Oct. 23 on Prime Video. It is a single, complete season. The announcement confirms Prime Video as its home worldwide.

The series will stream exclusively in Hindi in India and in more than 240 countries and territories, Variety reported on Oct. 9. Exclusive means Prime Video is the only place to watch it, not on other channels or streamers. All eight episodes will be available at once, so viewers can pace them out or watch straight through.

The action is set in Mumbai in the early 2000s. It centres on Jay, Tony, Saahil and Sameer, four friends living ordinary lives. A wrong turn pulls them into the city’s criminal networks. Getting out proves harder than getting in, and every choice pulls the group deeper.

Purav Jha, Naman Jain, Saqib Ayub and Prayrak Mehta play the four leads. The four stay at the heart of the story across all eight parts. Their friendship drives the plot. As the risks rise, that bond is put under pressure from all sides.

The ensemble around them is packed with recognised faces. Sai Tamhankar, Sikandar Kher, Dibyendu Bhattacharya and Rajesh Tailang take supporting roles. Chunky Panday and Bhagavathi Perumal also appear. Together they fill out the world of police, gangsters and neighbours closing in on the friends.

Vinay Waikul directs the series from scripts by Sambit Mishra and Saurabh Sawant. Waikul, Mishra and Sawant share creator credit with S. Hussain Zaidi, the author widely known for documenting Mumbai’s organised crime. BBC Studios India developed the show for the streamer. It was produced by Pranati Nagarsheth, Niraj Nagarsheth and P.S. Shyam for Pink Window Production Pvt. Ltd., which carried the production from casting through to delivery.

What makes this stand out is the scale of the launch. A Hindi-language story rooted in one Mumbai neighbourhood will open in front of audiences from India to Britain to Australia on the same morning. For fans, this means no wait for an international release. Eight episodes. One friendship. One long slide into a world none of them planned to enter.
