Skillet release After the Storm EP during 30th anniversary year

Skillet have released their six-song EP After the Storm on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, as the band marks its 30th anniversary. The band confirmed the release date in an interview with Billboard. Its official website now lists the EP as out now, with options to stream and buy.
Frontman John Cooper told Billboard the songs grew out of a fractured relationship with the church he and his family had helped build and attended for years. He declined to go into specifics about what happened at the church. He said he remains a Christian. He is not doubting his faith.
That tension sits at the centre of the EP. Cooper described writing through hurt caused inside a faith community while holding on to belief. It is a personal starting point, and the band is presenting the record in those terms rather than as a break with religion.
Skillet are John Cooper on lead vocals and bass, Korey Cooper on guitar and keys, Jen Ledger on drums and vocals, and Seth Morrison on lead guitar. The line-up has been together through a long run of albums and tours. This release arrives as the group celebrates three decades as a band.
The numbers behind the band are large. Skillet has been certified by the RIAA, the US body that certifies recorded-music sales, for moving 30 million equivalent albums. Its 2009 single “Monster” is certified seven-times platinum, which denotes seven million units in sales and streaming equivalents. The song has passed five billion global streams, and Spotify credits it as the first Christian song to pass one billion streams on its platform.
After the Storm runs to six tracks. The CD track list is “Scream,” “Lift Me Up,” “Grave Stomper,” “After The Storm,” “Heaven Help Us” and “Come and Find Me.” Korey Cooper produced half of the songs on the EP, according to CCM Magazine.
The band is pointing listeners to “Grave Stomper” alongside the release, with a watch link featured on its official website. The preorder page says the EP arrives everywhere Oct. 9, 2026. Physical options include a CD and a Limited Edition Eye Of The Storm vinyl variant with a Side-B etching, limited to 500 copies.
The release lands during a US tour. Skillet is touring the US through Nov. 10 on the Comatose 20 Years, Still Screaming Tour. The run celebrates the band’s 2006 album Comatose.
For fans, this means new music and an older album honoured on the same dates. The tour looks back to 2006. The EP writes about the present.
